It is an organization in charge of Party history and local Party history research and its main responsibilities are:

1. To collect and arrange Party history materials during Hangzhou’s new Democratic Revolution period and socialist period.

2. To research local Party history, compile Hangzhou Party history and Hangzhou revolution history and edit and publish books and journals of local Party history.

3. To organize special researches on Party history so as to provide historical lessons for the reform and opening-up and the socialist modernization drive.

4. Together with relevant departments, to make use of Party history materials and research achievements to carry out education on patriotism, socialism, collectivism and traditional revolution for ordinary people, especially adolescents.

5. To plan, organize and coordinate collection and studies of Party history materials of relevant municipal departments, colleges and universities, cities, districts etc. and certain significantly commemorative activities.

6. To complete all tasks assigned by Hangzhou Municipal Government, and data collection tasks issued by Research Offices of Party History from central and provincial Party Committees.

7. To guide Party history departments and liaison persons from cities and districts etc. on how to implement work.
