2. Bring those veteran cadres into full play in the construction work of material and cultural undertakings by carrying out the ideological and political work and building party branches of veteran cadres. Besides, their letters and visits should be seriously received and dealt with in order to solve their practical problems.

3. Actively publicize policies of veteran cadres made by the CPC, especially the examples of model veteran cadres. In addition, the experiences of working with veteran cadres should be summarized and popularized. Together with relevant departments, make efforts to care, support and work better for veteran cadres.

4. Guide the work of centers and universities for the elderly and further develop the education for the elderly. Besides, various kinds of recreational and sports activities will be organized, which are beneficial to the health of veteran cadres.

5. Guide and supervise the administration and service work of retired veteran cadres in units of districts, counties and those directly under the Municipal Government. In the meantime, supervise and help the improvement and smooth operation of the social security mechanism of veteran cadres in terms of salaries and medical charges in enterprises.

6. Provide veteran cadres with better medical care and life service, together with relevant departments. Besides, help relevant units properly handle funerals and what happened afterwards and so on of veteran cadres who enjoy the provincial department-level official treatment or above.

7. Carry out investigations and studies on new questions and situations and provides good administration and service for veteran cadres from restructured enterprises. Policies of strengthening administration and service for veteran cadres will be studied and formulated.

8. Ensure the implementation of the policy of relocating veteran cadres and handle the work of examination and approval when veteran cadres are applying for residence in Hangzhou; help solve the existing problems related to their political and living benefits.

9. Undertake other relevant issues assigned by the offices at higher levels.
