¡¾Cultural Facilities¡¿ The cons truc tion of the famous cultural city was strengthened. By the end of 2009, there were 16 public libraries with 12.2099 million books and Hangzhou Library was the first managerial members of International Online Computer Library Center in the country, and awarded the top state social & culture prize of Mass-Star Prize; 13 cultural stations; 62 museums (memorial halls); 11 theatres; 2 mass art stations; 2 concert halls. It also owned 24 state-level protection sites of cultural relics.


¡¾Culture and Arts¡¿ By executing "Prefect-Product Project", Hangzhou strived to impel the flourish development of art creation. In 2009, the literature and art works won 13 international-level prizes and 351 above provincial-level prizes. The work of film and television program creation was impelled further, which won 13 awards at the provincial level or above. The field of foreign culture exchange was made great effort to develop. In the whole year, a series of culture exchange projects with 92 batch-trips and 1,662 person-trips were input and output. By the end of the year, there were 20 professional performing art ensembles of various sorts. A total of 26 items got into the protection of the Second Non-Material Culture heritage.
¡¾Broadcasting and Television¡¿ By the end of 2009, the city had 2 TV stations with 22 TV channels and 9 radio stations with 18 channels. The coverage rate of TV and radio service all reached 99.8%. The number of cable TV users was 2.0362 million households, including 1.0439 million digital TV households. The comprehensive coverage rate of administrative villages and natural villages amounted to 100%.
¡¾Press and Publication¡¿ The press and publication industry was thriving. In 2009, a total of 1.768 billion copies of newspapers, 79 million copies of magazines and 309 million copies of books were issued in the year. The work of copyright was enhanced further and Hangzhou was the first city of Copyright Protection City in China.
¡¾Local Records Compilation¡¿ The under tak ing of local his tor y was impressive. "Hangzhou Almanac (2009)" won the Grand Prize in the national four th compilation and publication of the Yearbook quality evaluation, was the only one yearbook received a top honorary title of Zhejiang Province in the prefecture (city) level and above. The Natural, Economic, Political, Cultural and Social co-volume of " Hangzhou City Blogs (1986 ~ 2005)" was completed, " Hangzhou Fu Zhi" of Qianlong was compiled and published, Hangzhou chronicles local history museum and China's local history (Hangzhou) training and exchange center star ted to prepare, and " Commemorate the 1420 anniversary of the Conference on Sui build Hangzhou " held successfully.
