In 20 09, there were 26 ,077 patent applic at ions submitted, including 6,703 inventions, up by 40.6% and 30.7% over the previous year; 15,507 patents authorized, including 2,535 inventions, up by58.2% and 32.0% over the previous year.

【Science & Technology Innovation】
By the end of 2009, there were 24 national research institutes in Hangzhou, 1,236 high-tech enterprises supported by National, identified R&D centers 521, and enterprise technology centers reached 454. Technology business incubators strengthened. The city has 44 all kinds of incubation bases, and the base area reached 1.267 million square meters, hatching enterprise reached 2,184.
