In the registered people, the agriculture population amounted to 3.289 million and the non-agriculture population reached 3.5448 million. The birth rate of population was 9.18 per mill, the death rate was 5.75 per mill and the natural growth rate was 3.42 per mill.

The population continues to extend life expectancy. In year 2009, the average life expectancy was 80.26 year old of residents in Hangzhou (77.98 years of men and 82.76 years of women), which was equivalent to the level of developed countries ahead of time.
