Every Saturday, Wanshong Academy becomes bustling: people who are still single go there to hunt for spouses. The romance more or less dilutes the charm of cultural accumulation. As it is known to most Chinese people that this academy is where Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai studied saints' books.

This year, Wanshong Academy is going to do something big. They are going to restore Kuixing tower and organize "Wansong lecture hall". The platform will be set in Jianhu Pavilion or beside Guanyin Hall. The lecture hall will be a traditionally decorated medium-sized hall which can hold several hundreds people. Gu Jianhong, head of the Administration Office of Fenghuangshan Mountain Scenic Area, described to us the academy in shape, "Wansong  lecture hall will reflect the ancient traditions of respecting teachers and natural laws. It aims to spread Sinology and the elegance of talents. Well-known and highly accomplished scholars will lecture here." In future, this place will become a cultural centre for conference and cultural exchanges. The three original functions as the place of  lectures, worships and library as ancient academy will be renovated.

In history, famous academies like Yuelu and Xinling all had a highly respected head lecturer. Wansong will also follow that tradition. Mr. Gu told the reporter, "We plan to invite a well-learned historian master as the chief lecturer. And we'll also invite academic stars like Yu Dan to our forum, regularly or irregularly. We wish that it could be a place that assemble people who love history, literature and art and could become Hangzhou's Lecture Room." To the question of whether the audience have to sit down on knees as done by ancient people when they attend lectures, Gu said that they would not have the audience's knees hurt.(Hangzhou Daily)
